Daarmee komen ook vragen op tafel over feestdagen: mag een werknemer vrij nemen voor het Suikerfeest of Chanoeka? En wat als iemand een vrije dag wil voor Divali of een andere religieuze viering? Deze worden vaak als verplichte vrije dagen opgenomen in een cao of arbeidsovereenkomst. Feestdagen zoals Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Chanoeka of Divali vallen daar meestal niet onder.<\/p><p>Toch betekent dat niet dat je een verlofverzoek zomaar mag afwijzen. Op grond van de Algemene wet gelijke behandeling (AWGB) mag je als werkgever namelijk geen onderscheid maken op basis van religie.
